GERMAN WILL CLOSE 7 NPP - The seven reactors had been stopped for security checks since the crisis of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant occurred in March. Germany has 17 nuclear power plants, but the 7 oldest nuclear power plants built before 1980. German Environment Minister and his colleagues at the regional level agree that 7 of the country's oldest nuclear power plant should be closed permanently.

Earlier in May, Germany's nuclear safety commission stating that the seven nuclear power plants have the lowest level of security. None of the seven nuclear power plants that have protection against major plane crash, and some can not deal with a small plane crash.

Chancellor Angela Merkel's government will make decisions regarding the country's energy policy on June 6. Following the agreement on Friday, the new policy will likely include the closure of all nuclear power plants in the country within a period of one decade.
